Beyond the Match
Three immersive cameras brought supporters closer to the substitutes, the coaches and the crowd—adding a new behind-the-scenes layer to an existing club broadcast.

Everything happening around the match
A London sports club already streamed conventional 2D coverage of its matches through its mobile app. Catch Reality was commissioned to create a complementary multi-camera immersive experience that would reveal the human side of match day.
The aim wasn't to follow the ball or duplicate the main broadcast. It was to bring supporters inside the atmosphere around the pitch, the coaching staff and the hospitality audience—whether they were watching from home or from another stand.
Choose a different point of view

Alongside the team
Positioned near the players' tunnel and substitutes' bench, this camera offered close-up views of players arriving and leaving, substitutions, physiotherapists and the wider team preparing, warming up and reacting to the action.
It gave supporters elsewhere in the ground an immersive perspective they couldn't get from their seats—and remote supporters the feeling of being near the team.

Inside the tension
A second camera was placed with the coaches, bringing viewers close to their concentration, excitement and anxiety as events unfolded on the pitch.
Rather than another wide match angle, the feed captured the reactions of those responsible for directing the team.

A virtual seat among the supporters
The third camera was placed inside a hospitality area among dedicated supporters, bringing the excitement, collective reactions and social experience to people watching elsewhere.
For fans at home, it was a way to share in the atmosphere of an exclusive viewing area without being physically present.
Integrated, not competing
Each of the three 360° feeds was embedded within the club's existing mobile app, alongside its established 2D match stream.
The feeds ran simultaneously in 4K at 30 frames per second. We combined the established commentator's live feed with sound captured around each camera, so supporters could hear both the match and the immediate environment.
Long Ethernet cable runs provided wired connections for each camera. Routing cables through a working spectator stadium called for careful planning, temporary protection and safe access around stands and walkways.
Catch Reality operated this multi-camera setup over a series of home matches throughout the season.

A broadcast layer beyond the main action
Where conventional television concentrates on the game, immersive streaming can open up the event around it. The touchline, coaching and hospitality views offered different ways to feel closer to the club—without replacing the existing 2D feed.
